Recognitions & Awards

Each year at the state convention and at the district meeting, awards are presented to Clubs  and Club members to recognize the best Club achievements for the previous calendar year. At the 119th GFWC-SC convention April 28-30, 2017, our Club was recognized as a GFWC-SC Honor Club and received the following awards:

Woman’s Club of Rock Hill (Category III: 30+ members)

  • Gold seal of excellence certificates (1st place) in recognition of outstanding work in the fields of: Women’s History and Resource Center; Legislation and Public Policy; WCRH monthly newsletter; Conservation Community Service Program; Scrapbook Contest (Darlene Griffin, chairman of Scrapbook Committee); GFWC Signature Program:  Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention
  • Silver seal of excellence certificates (2nd place) Arts Community Service Program and a Leadership Award

Individual Member Awards and Recognition:

  • GFWC-SC Volunteer of the Year: Connie Zdenek
  • Photography Contest: TBA
  • Creative Writing Award – Youth Division – Short Story, Chloe Powell, granddaughter of Kathy Schlauch 

National Awards:

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC) recognizes Clubs and Individuals for their achievements.  They are chosen from individual award recipients that are sent in each year from State Clubs in all 50 States.  These are awards are presented annually at the International convention which generally take place in the summer at different locations each year.  In 2017 the International Convention was held in California and the Woman’s Club of Rock Hill Received two awards:

  • The Club was awarded third place for its Website
  • In the youth creative writing category contest for children and grandchildren of members, Chloe Powell, granddaughter of Kathy Schlauch, won first place for her original short story in her age range of kindergarten through second grade..
