Consider Membership

As a member of the Woman’s Club, one is affiliated with an international organization, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the world’s largest volunteer organization of women. Opportunities are available to participate at the district, state, regional and national levels as well as at the local level.

For more than a century, clubwomen have supported participation in the arts; promoted education, literacy and establishment of libraries; encouraged conservation of natural resources; encouraged healthy lifestyles, worked on behalf of the elderly and disabled; promoted international understanding; and supported awareness of public issues and civic responsibility. See specific examples of projects implemented by the Woman’s Club of Rock Hill.  The membership year is May 1-April 30. Meetings are held the second Monday from September to May; the December meeting is a holiday social and the March meeting is the Annual Business Meeting. New officers are installed and new members inducted at the April dinner meeting. Except in December and April, members gather at 5pm for a social time, the Community Service Program committees meet at 5:30; the program begins at 6:00 and the business meeting begins about 6:40.

Every member chooses or is assigned to one of the six Community Service Programs:  Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Outreach and Public Issues.  It is through these programs that Club charity projects are organized. In addition, the Club participates in community-wide events such as ChristmasVille by hosting  Victorian Teas and a Children’s Tea; and Come-See-Me when the Club hosts two or more lunches/brunches. These events are sources of income to support the clubhouse and gardens as well as the community service projects. Other fundraising activities are scheduled as needed.

Members, with some help from husband volunteers, maintain the historic clubhouse and restored gardens. Social activities are set up by the committees or by the Club as a whole.

If you are interested in participating in a team effort implementing the Club’s projects, helping maintain the clubhouse and gardens and  enjoying new social activities, please contact us.
